Born of necessity, Blue Skies For Children was founded in 1997 by a task force, who enlisted local organizations including DCFS, Brigid Collins, Catholic Community Services, Whatcom Foster & Adoptive Parents Association, Northwest Youth Services, The Opportunity Council, WWU and Whatcom County Community Network. A continuous effort is underway to restore hope and self esteem to homeless, low income and foster children in Whatcom County, providing clothing, support and other valuable enrichment opportunities.

 Back to School Drive

At Blue Skies we believe it's important that every child start school with the supplies they need to be ready to learn. Every year we hold a Back to School drive to help us meet the needs of hundreds of kids. Backpacks, binders, pens, pencils, crayons, scissors, dividers, is just a partial list of what kids are expected to have when they begin school.

 Little Wishes Program

Blue Skies believes that enrichment activities and experiences offer children a discovery of both joy and discipline. The Little Wishes Program provides children the chance to fulfill a dream, and build self-esteem, allowing the child to fit in and be a “regular” kid. This includes dance and music lessons, sports equipment, summer camp, graduation expenses. We are always in search of donors who can help a child realize by donating money to fund these "wishes".
